SPARK — Follow-up

The afterglow

A quiet follow-up to the first SPARK gathering.

Last november, we gathered.

With 125 people in a church in the middle of the city, we slowed down. We breathed. We moved. We listened. To sound, to silence, to something inside.

This page is not a recap. It’s not meant to capture everything that happened. It’s a space for what stayed. For the sparks that were lit, and for the ones that are still quietly glowing.

And this is where you come in. SPARK only exists if it responds to what’s truly needed. The event is made possible by organisations that believe this work matters. Your voice helps us shape what comes next.

Tell us what stayed with you. Tell us what you need.

Breathwork

During SPARK, Tjeerd guided participants through the power and wisdom of the breath. Through a breathwork workshop, he invited us to slow down, tune inward, and experience how the breath can reconnect us to ourselves and to something larger than us.

My personal SPARK

After finishing school, I started working as an electrician. After doing this for about six years, I felt the urge to look further toward what my real passion in life is and how I could contribute more to a better world. I wanted to follow my heart. But how do you actually do that?

In my search for more happiness and meaning, I explored yoga, nutrition, meditation, sports, and spirituality. Eventually, I discovered breathwork. It became a bridge from the mind to the heart. It gave me far more control over my stress, energy, thoughts, emotions, and self-confidence.

Since then, I’ve become deeply passionate about the breath and the enormous influence it has on your state of being and therefore your quality of life. I decided it was truly my mission to share this and help people with it. I’ve completed many trainings in the Wim Hof Method, breath coaching, meditation, and yoga, and since 2001 I’ve run a company called The Breath Wave.

I loved being part of the SPARK event and sharing the power of the breath with a new generation of young people. Conscious breathing, in my view, is the most important tool in this modern world full of stress, stimuli, and distraction.

For the SPARK community

Tjeerd created a dedicated page for everyone who joined SPARK, to continue practicing and integrating after the session. You can leave your email to access exclusive breathwork videos and special rates for upcoming SPARK sessions and events.

Batul Loomans

Meditation

During SPARK, Batul Loomans invited us back into the body. Through guided expression, sound, movement, and reflection, he created space to let go, listen inward, and notice what came alive within.

My personal SPARK

The first time I truly experienced space in my mind, between all my thoughts, was in 1991 in Jaipur, India, during a ten-day Vipassana silent retreat. That sweet taste of silence and inner peace has been the greatest passion of my life ever since… up until now.

For the SPARK community

In life, we all carry things we feel angry or frustrated about. But do we really give this energy the space it needs?

Write down 10 things you feel frustration or anger about. Then notice where these emotions live in your body.

Next, begin speaking in gibberish and express what wants to be released using your voice and your whole body, in your own unique way. Everything is allowed: hitting, jumping, kicking, shouting, as long as it is your way of expression and gives space to this explosion of energy.

Do this for a few minutes, then allow everything to become still within you and in the space around you. Move as little as possible. And observe your energy in this moment.

Piano Soundscapes

During SPARK, Cécile Schulte created moments of grounding and calm through her piano playing. Between program sessions, her music offered a quiet oasis. Inviting presence, reflection, and a gentle pause in the flow of the evening.

My personal SPARK

I think we’re all good at something, and love doing it. We just need the time to explore what that is. For me this was music from an early age, and because of boredom, loads of time, als most no screens, I had the opportunity to explore music further and found my passion, therapy and outlet in it. When I play, I’m in the now and my mind goes nowhere else.

As young people we don’t often have the opportunity anymore to be in the now, because of everything that asks for attention tomorrow, or online. It became harder to find out what you love doing, but definitely not impossible. Try going into nature without your phone, try writing down what thoughts and emotions flow through you. And let your imagination and creativity spark!

My SPARK during the event

I loved playing at this event because of its warm, connected dynamics and the obvious love that was put into the evening. After the breathwork session, I felt entirely IN my body and noticed that I hadn’t played the keys like this in a long time; full of emotion and completely in the now. It was magical 🙏🏼

Imagination

During SPARK, Ilya shared the story behind The Offline Club. He took us back to how it began as an idea, born from imagination and a desire to reconnect offline, and shared what it really takes to turn a vision into a movement. In just 1.5 years, The Offline Club grew into a community of over 600,000 people, showing how imagination, commitment, and courage can create real-world impact.

Embodied Knowing

During SPARK, Feadan & Friends invited us into a space of transcendence through movement and dance. Through music, presence, and guided freedom, we were invited to let the body speak, to move beyond thinking, and to experience connection through expression. A shared moment where movement became language and the body led the way.

My SPARK during the event

My SPARK moment came alive when we moved freely together in the beautiful Posthoorn Church. The space, the joy, the connection, and the creations in motion. A first edition that sparked, vibrated, and truly lived, and one I felt grateful to be part of.

For the SPARK community

You are warmly invited to continue moving with Feadan during her upcoming events.

Sound Healing

At the beginning of SPARK, Louise Pos (Salka Soul) gently grounded us through a short sound journey. Her sounds invited us to arrive in our bodies, slow down, and settle into the space together.

My personal SPARK

I would say my SPARK ignited the moment I started to align my life with what I was thinking and feeling on the inside. It meant slowing down to acknowledge and feel my emotions more intensely, it meant getting out of that job I knew deep down was never for me to stay in, it meant building deep meaningful connections where my "crazy" thoughts were being matched and suddenly not so crazy at all anymore, and it meant stepping into a new path of guiding Sound Healings with Salka Soul, suddenly experiencing a "flow of life" that just feels right.

Being at the SPARK last week, just confirmed this path for me, and showed me that change really can be possible in this world. We just have to dare to dream big and beyond our imagination..

My SPARK during the event

Seeing all of you entering the beautiful church space last Friday, probably curious and excited.. maybe a little nervous, and for me to facilitate the Sound Healing there and then, it was truly the highlight of my week. And in case you would like to explore more..

For the SPARK community

With Salka Soul, I host monthly Sound Ceremonies in a beautiful, authentic yurt. These extended sound journeys invite deep relaxation, offering space to slow down, soften, and simply be.

Creating spaces where sound can move through the body, where the world grows quiet and you can reconnect with yourself—this is where my personal SPARK lights up, and what I love to share.

Upcoming Sound Ceremonies

  • December 21 — Sound Ceremony (only two spots left)
  • January 11 — Sound Ceremony, focused on closing the year and consciously stepping into the new one

Follow @salka.soul and send me a message if you're interested.

Imagination

During SPARK, Emin shared the story behind Tussen Tompouce en Baklava. A multidisciplinary project that brings the voices of first-generation Turkish guest workers to the foreground. Together with the audience he explored what life lessons were gained along the way. His talk was living archive of imagination, identity, and belonging.

For the SPARK community

Curious to dive deeper into the project and its story world? Explore the page below. If you feel called: share this project with someone from the first generation in your family or community, and ask them one question: “What life lesson do you want to pass on?”
